Project Sprouts

Sampling ash sprouts for vegetative propagation Feb 2022
Due to an infection by a non-native fungus Hymenoscyphus fraxineus, the occurence of the common ash (Fraxinus exelsior) in Central Europe is declining dramatically.
In order to preserve ash trees the research network FraxForFuture was developed. Within the sub-network FraxGen we were sampling sprouts from the tree canopies for vegetative propagation.
